“We’re looking forward to playing a full game,” Southern Miss coach Will Hall said after Wednesday’s practice. “We still haven’t played a full game, so our kids are excited about that. Just excited to be back home and show people what we’re really made of and what we can really do.”
Southern Miss hosts Southeastern Louisiana (0-1) on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN+) at M. M. Roberts Stadium in the home opener. This will be the first meeting since 2011. The Lions lost 52-0 to Tulane in Week 1.

Southeastern Louisiana went 3-8 last season, a step back after winning nine games in 2022 and 2021.

Southeastern Louisiana had an average defense last season that allowed 28.5 points per game. Tulane had 471 yards of offense against the Lions, including 241 rushing yards and zero sacks allowed.
Tate Rodemaker, a Florida State transfer, made his first Southern Miss start at quarterback and completed 13 of 19 passes for 126 yards and two interceptions. Sophomore Ethan Crawford did not attempt a pass but rushed three times for 10 yards. Hall never officially named Rodemaker the starter, but he is ahead of Crawford on the team depth chart.
