Former Washington Commanders (then Redskins) quarterback Robert Griffin III has taken to social media to make a bold statement, suggesting a significant shift in the team’s future.
Griffin III made waves on social media by declaring that Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is ready to take on the role of franchise quarterback. He made the statement while highlighting Daniels’ stats in the first five games of the season as compared to his start with the team.
So far in the 2024 season, Daniels has tallied 1,135 passing yards for four touchdowns and just two interceptions. He also has 57 carries for 300 yards and four scores on the ground.
“Jayden Daniels will finish what we started,” Griffin III said, suggesting a bright future for the young player.
Jayden Daniels has impressed many this season, and Robert Griffin III ranks him as the second-best candidate for the NFL MVP award after the first five weeks of the NFL season.
Daniels is also considered a strong contender for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. If he wins the MVP, he would join a very exclusive club, as only one rookie has ever received this honor: Jim Brown of the Cleveland Browns in 1957
Commenting on Griffin’s endorsement, a sports fan named Tommy pointed out the similarities in stats between Daniels and Griffin’s own early career.
However, not everyone is convinced. One commenter noted, “Y’all said the same thing about RG3, Watson and Russell. Then y’all bail on them, act like y’all never said anything.”
Daniels has also drawn comparisons to Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson, known for his dual-threat style.
When asked about these comparisons, Daniels responded, “I don’t like when people try to compare me to Lamar. We’re two different players. I want to be known as Jayden Daniels and not the next such-and-such.”
