ABC’s 9-1-1, which began airing its 8th season on September 26th, 2024, follows the work and personal lives of first responders in Los Angeles. Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) leads the team at the LAFD’s Station 118, which includes firefighters Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark) and Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) and firefighter-paramedics Howard “Chimney” Han (Kenneth Choi) and Henrietta 
Beyond being a family themselves, members of the 118 have occasionally brought members of their family into the work they do as first responders. Maddie showed up in 9-1-1’s Season 2, Episode 1, “Under Pressure,” and was planning to leave Los Angeles before Buck convinced her to stay and take a job with 9-1-1 dispatch, and while Hen’s wife Karen (Tracie Thoms) is a rocket scientist, she sometimes helps Hen solve issues she is dealing with at work. Athena’s daughter, May Grant (Corinne Massiah), even became a 9-1-1 dispatcher for a couple of years
Los Angeles, was raised mostly by a single mother after his father returned to Seoul, Korea, where they were originally from. When his mother died from cancer just before his 15th birthday, Chimney was taken in by his mother’s best friend, Anne Lee (Freda Foh Shen), and her family.
