In a major recruiting shake-up, Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward wide receiver Joshua Moore, a four-star talent, has decided to decommit from the Florida Gators and join the Miami. Moore had initially committed to the Gators on June 26, with UF wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales playing a pivotal role in securing his commitment.

Ranked as the No. 129 overall player and the No. 17 wide receiver in the 2025 class, Moore’s departure marks a significant loss for Florida’s recruiting efforts. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound standout was also ranked as the No. 23 player in Florida. His decommitment dropped the Gators to No. 29 in the On3 recruiting rankings.

Moore’s recruitment by Miami gained traction over the past few weeks. He reportedly visited Miami several times shortly after Florida’s season-opening 41-24 loss to the Hurricanes in Gainesville. Moore also attended Florida’s recent Week 6 victory against UCF just days before making his final decision.

With Moore out of the picture, 2025 wide receiver Vernell Brown III becomes Florida’s highest-ranked commit, filling big shoes as the No. 43 player in the nation. Meanwhile, Miami adds Moore to an already promising 2025 class, making him the 23rd member and the second wide receiver alongside fellow four-star recruit Daylyn Upshaw.

Joshua Moore, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound wide receiver from West Broward (Fla.), had an impressive junior season in 2023, recording 50 receptions for 835 yards and nine touchdowns, helping his team reach the Florida 4M playoffs.

Before committing to Florida, a key factor in Moore’s decision was the chance to play with highly touted freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, who is set to lead the Gators’offense next season.

With Moore’s recent flip to Miami, Florida is left with two remaining receiver commitments in its 2025 cycle: four-star Vernell Brown III and Naeshaun Montgomery. The Gators’ recruiting class, once ranked near the top 20, has now slipped to a borderline top-30 ranking, according to On3 and 247 Sports.
