There are still a few five-stars out there for the 2025 class that have yet to sign with a school, four in particular. One of those guys is still being linked to the Sooners, and a huge reason why is because of the Sooners’ biggest recruiting weapon — Bill Bedenbaugh.
The Sooners recruit offensive linemen very well, and that’s because of one of the best coaches at the position in the country, if not the best now that Sam Pittman has turned to a head coach at Arkansas with more responsibilities.
This was a big reason they were able to snag Michael Fasusi from the top Texas schools, as the five-star offensive tackle had those schools in his top five. But Oklahoma does it differently when it comes to offensive linemen. Look at the NFL and all of the top-paid offensive linemen. Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs just got paid to be the highest-paid center in football.
If you want to go to the NFL as an offensive lineman, and there are plenty of recent examples, Oklahoma is the place to go. That’s why they are still in the running for one of the few five-stars left.
Andrew Babalola, a five-star offensive tackle from the Kansas City area, has not yet signed and has Oklahoma as one of his top schools. According to On3, Babalola has a 2% chance to sign with the Sooners, as many think he will be going to Stanford. But, that could very well change. In high school recruiting, there will always be a chance — you never know what’s going to change these kids minds.
Babalola is the 11th-ranked recruit nationally by On3’s standards. Grabbing him, which is still possible, as Oklahoma is the third-highest team on his list behind Stanford and Michigan, would boost their class up big time. It’s definitely something to watch.
